With the help of the almanac written by the Estate bailiff, the guide takes you through a year in the day-to-day existence of the owners.
The young master has completed his Grand Tour. He has seen ancient ruins, sampled the pleasures of Venice, and brought back plenty of ideas for the future in his trunks.
Meanwhile, Madame and Monsieur devote themselves to their pastimes, enjoy the Estate and perpetuate the local traditions of the time: the St John’s Eve bonfire, Lent, the Neapolitan crib scene, the Three King Cake for Epiphany – and of course hunting.
Child-rearing practices are changing, and modifications are being made to the house for greater comfort and convenience.
You will also learn about the servants, discovering the passageways they use to go about their business discreetly.
